A Welcome from the Mayor

Welcome to the Town of Red River's web site -the next best thing to actually being here. As you cruise through the site, you'll notice that Red River is a town on the go, progressive in thought, and changing on a regular basis. Although we're rather remote and small in population, Red River's excellent quality of life has attracted some of the brightest and hardest working citizens in the country. They're here because they want to be. They decided that quality of life is their ultimate goal. And Red River supports their vision.

As Mayor of Red River, it is my personal and public goal to make Red River a great place to live and work. We are constantly trying to improve our resort town and to improve the quality of life for our citizens and tourists. While Red River continues to change, rest assured that our commitment to hospitality and quality will not.

Town Council

Incorporated in 1971, the Town of Red River is a Mayor/Council form of Government managed by a Town Administrator. Our Town Council meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Red River Conference Center. The Town employs 36 full and 19 part-time employees.

According to the 2000 Census, 484 residents make Red River their home.

General Fund Expenditures: $1,344,967.00
All Funds: $6,725,028.00

Lodger's Tax: 5%
Gross Receipts Tax: 8.1875%
Municipal Services: Water, Sewer, Solid Waste, Ambulance, Fire, Police, Economic Development, Transportation, Dispatch, Public Library, and Motor Vehicle.
